My Serena

I look down at the golden angel in my arms and sigh, feeling warm and fuzzy right down to my toes. How did I get so lucky?

I smile and wrap my arms around her shoulders, looking out at the scenery around us. The winter has covered the landscape with a fluffy blanket of white as far as the eye can see. The bright sunlight shines off of everything giving it a crisp pure sheen of an icy wonderland.

She turns her beautiful face to mine and when her crystalline blue eyes meet mine everything else falls away. There is nothing on this earth that can compare to her.

The sunlight reflects off her hair making it gleam almost silver. Her eyes remind me of the azure sky and her lips are as soft and silky as rose petals. The wind has whipped colour into her cheeks, creating a rosy glow. As I look at her, I just want to run my hands through her hair and kiss her until she's breathless.

I watch her now, run off into the snow laughing like a child experiencing snow for the first time. I love the way that she delights in the little things. Birds in the sky, frost on glass even a faint rainbow are incredible things when she sees them.

I can't help but smile when she delicately catches snowflakes on her tongue. She catches me watching her and blushes prettily but continues on with her fun. It's just so amazing how things don't bother her at all.

There's a loud wailing coming from not too far away.

No. It's not Serena. It's a little girl. We both run over, but Serena gets to her first. She's immediately on the ground next to her comforting her. The child doesn't even think twice about her, and lets Serena hug her. She exudes so much love and caring that everyone and everything seems to respond to it.

This isn't the first time I've noticed it. It happens all the time. When she walks into the room all eyes turn to her. And it's not just because of her beauty.

She seems to light up the room with her smile, bringing warmth and happiness to everyone around her. It's just a part of who she is.

My mind returns from its wanderings when I hear soft laughter. The little girl is now giggling at something Serena has whispered to her. She gets up and smiles at me then runs off to rejoin her friends.

I lean down and offer a hand to my beautiful angel. She gratefully takes it and gracefully stands up. Unable to stop myself, I pull her close and hold her to me, marvelling at how well we fit together. I look down at her smiling face, taking in the gorgeous composition of golden silky hair, clear blue eyes, pert little nose and rosy luscious lips, and I know there is no other for me.

She is my love, my life. My Serena.
