Chapter One: Prayer to the Moon

Chapter 1

The sun was setting, bringing out the luminous full moon. It's soft light caressed the land, the trees, and finally the face of bespectacled boy with unkempt hair. Sitting quietly on the swing, his impassive countenance let nothing show as his green eyes stared blankly at the bright moon, yet his heart, filled with grief, showed otherwise.

Things are going better for him since Moody, Lupin, Mr. Weasley, and Tonks threatened the Dursleys at the end of the school year. They even bought him new clothes this summer, however grudgingly they felt about it. However, they started ignoring him again whenever he came downstairs from his room, which was fine with him. In fact, he was quite glad that they ignored him instead of pestering him about the "dangerous" people they met at the King's Cross station.

A faint rustle was heard from somewhere, Harry ignored it rationalizing that it was a small animal of some sort. He concentrated on the glistening moon again thinking back of his fifth year, how it started and how it ended.

He shut his eyes instantly, determined not to show any expression, yet doing it unintentionally. Some memories are too painful to ponder about... like the ones he is having right now. Trying to get rid of them, he opened his now stormy green eyes to concentrate on the serene surroundings that seemed untainted by any evil in the world... unlike him.

Even though Hermione, Ron, and Ginny changed his feelings during Christmas at Sirius' house, some part inside him couldn't help but feel that he was tarnished by his nemesis, Lord Voldemort. His unruly black hair started to rise at the back of his head. He felt like he was being hunted by Voldemort... or possibly his Death Eaters.

"Stupefy" Harry shouted as he stood and turned around abruptly, at the dark figure hidden partially by the now dark trees. The dark clouds lent Harry no help blinding the full moon.

The shadowy figure seemed to have fallen down, a naked wand, illuminated by the partial light from the genial moon, confirmed Harry's suspicions.

Drawing back quickly, Harry started to run by the order of his mind, not listening to his enraged feelings this time. Feelings of rage almost blinded him when a jet of bright light came his way. But he kept a firm control on his feelings for now, Harry dodged the light coming from another dark place secluded by the unwilling trees.

The full moon finally came out of it's blinded place to aid him more. Harry now saw distinct shapes from all over the place, except in his front view. Another jet of light came his way, which he dodged efficiently.

Harry cried, "Stupefy... Impedimenta... Expelliarmus...." He didn't look back to see if he had caught any of them, he concentrated all his energy on running away from them.

A loud snap was heard somewhere near him and a cloaked figure shot a series of spells into the dark places, where a few figures are starting to come out.

The undistinguishable person near him cried, "'Arry, run! I'll take care of 'em." Harry felt mingled feelings of fear and anger. It was Mundungus Fletcher. He was probably spying on him the entire time and now... risking his life protecting him.

Still running, he caught the sounds of Apparation that were probably from the other members of the Order of the Phoenix, helping Mundungus to protect Harry from the bloody Death Eaters.

Harry wanted to help them but guilt spread across him like wildfire in a forest as he remembered the last time he wanted to help. He lost Sirius. Probably because of his interference in the duel, he could end up losing more of the members of the Order unnecessarily.

Hope was quickly diminishing as he felt rather than saw that a member of the Order, probably Mundungus by the sound of his surprised cry, falling down to the ground... just as Sirius did when he....

He prayed for strength... for hope... from anyone, anywhere in the world to help the members of the Order... help him. Harry looked back at the same time as the moon glowed brighter, helping him see the fierce duel between the members of the Order and the Death Eaters.

He kept running and looking back anxiously at the fiery duel.... Not noticing anything except the duel, Harry felt the inflamed air around him turn into a placid one somehow. Still looking back at the duel that now somehow seemed like a TV show in an obscure, round, life-sized, realistic TV, he crashed into something hard.

Falling back to the ground at the force of the collision, he involuntarily closed his eyes as he hit the hard ground. He unconsciously felt something-liquid trickle down from his forehead and the back of his head.

Somehow, the current world felt dark yet gave mystically warm feelings in Harry instead of the cold feeling he felt so many times before.
