Chapter 4

Harsh streams of sunlight rushed into the dark room with golden crescent moons and roses, crushing every shade in its path with its intense light. Thus, a snoozing 15-year-old boy was awakened to a new day, rather glaringly. He yawned loudly to dispel any magic of sweet sleep to see what new events he would experience the fine day.

After tidying up himself taking luxurious time (for observing everything in the beautiful bathroom), he plodded his way down the stairs towards the dining room also taking his time generously.

Seeing that he was alone in the dining room, Harry guessed the people in the house were very late-sleepers to be still asleep at 7:00 AM on the bright morning. He started his way to the kitchen to see that if he can make himself some breakfast since his stomach had been growling rather loudly since his awakening.

Pushing the lush emerald doors of kitchen, Harry was surprised to see an unknown kissing couple. His face reddened considerably at seeing the couple drowning more and more in their own world and felt it necessary to interrupt them before something would happen that all members in the room would regret experiencing.

Harry cleared his throat at full volume and couldn't help but cough excessively as a consequence. It worked its purpose however; the couple broke off with red cheeks and came to him in concern at his violent coughs. The chocolate brown-haired woman with kind, emerald eyes rushed to him to give him a glass of much-needed water, and asked him if he was all right.

Harry replied he was fine and curiously asked who they were before introducing himself by his pseudonym, Endymion. He thought he noticed a slight look of surprise and some other emotion in their eyes and was determined to know them both (after he scolded himself immensely for choosing that kind of a name as a pseudonym again).

"Oh sorry, I'm Kino Makoto and this is," she motioned lovingly to the wavy, dark auburn haired man with reddish brown eyes, "my husband, Nephrite." She looked a little anxious as she said her husband's name and Harry supposed it was the way the man had been staring at him.

He can see wary knowledge in that man's reddish brown eyes and wondered if the man recognized him by any chance. Upon realizing he forgot to put an illusion spell on his lightning-bolt scar, he glanced quickly to the glass door of the cupboard shelves behind the couple and was relieved greatly to see that his unruly black hair was stuck firmly to his forehead because of his earlier shower. He told himself to thank Lady luck as soon as he can get out of this situation. Yet, he was very curious why the man looked at him cautiously. Harry quickly looked at the woman (who seemed to be a muggle unlike her husband) to avoid eye contact with the man, lest the man should know Legilimency and destroy his fabricated story of amnesia or worse expose him as Harry Potter.

The woman was very kind to him and told him they knew of his predicament and thus continued, "Endymion, I know words do little to comfort you at a time like this but don't feel so sad about it. I understand that I don't know how you are feeling right now but I do know someone who was in the same predicament as you are in now and he—"

Harry cut her off too aroused by curiosity and astonishment at finding someone who was in the same boat as him (true that he was pretending but he was anxious to meet the person, lest the person should figure out he was lying without any magic at all). "I'm sorry; did you say another person had amnesia?"

She nodded solemnly, "has, dear. He suffered from amnesia when he was only four years old. You see, his parents died from a car crash and he was the sole survivor with heavy price for living--he couldn't remember anything about his parents. He was placed in an orphanage until he turned 18.(1) From then onwards, he made a living on his own for a while and finally inherited company and this estate from his parents.(2)"

Harry immediately thought of Mr. Chiba, since it's a male, but hesitated from speaking aloud since there are many people living in this house who could've easily had that past. He voiced hesitantly, "Who is he?" He quickly added for fear of their rejection, "If I may ask, Mrs. Kino."

She smiled at the title, "none of that, Endymion. Please call me Makoto. And, as for him, he is Chiba Mamoru-san."

Harry widened his eyes at the name. He seriously thought that fate had fallen on some stranger in the house—better to have it fallen on a stranger than his savior. Though, he wished that fate were destroyed so none in the world could experience it. He thought about Mr. Chiba and his parents—to not know even his parents' faces. Although, Harry's parents were killed by Voldemort when he was but one-year-old and couldn't remember his parents till he was 11 years old, he at least knew prior to his 11 years how they were by Aunt Petunia and how they looked by the photo albums. But, Mr. Chiba... he didn't know anything about his parents and was brought up in an orphanage as an orphan with nothing even with all this estate and riches under his feet. Harry realized his past and Mr. Chiba's past are strangely similar—he didn't know his parents until he was accepted into Hogwarts, the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and Mr. Chiba didn't know anything about his parents until he inherited the estate. He wondered how Mr. Chiba could've survived all those years without any knowledge about his parents. He immediately wanted to see Mr. Chiba; he didn't know why so suddenly but there was certain... pull drawing at him to see Mr. Chiba.

Harry asked Mrs. Kin... er... Makoto-san, "Mrs.... Makoto-san, can I see Mr. Chiba, please? I really want to thank him for helping me."

Mrs. K... Makoto-san looked regretful, "uh... I'm sorry, Endymion. Mamoru-san is always a morning person and goes to his office at 6, so you just missed him." His face must've looked miserable, she immediately added cheerfully, "Don't worry Endymion. Mamoru-san always comes to lunch at 12 so you won't miss him in the afternoon."

Before he could say thank you, a bell chimed melodiously, notifying the members about a guest. He volunteered to welcome the guest and quickly said his thank-you to Mrs.... er... Makoto-san.

Harry ran quickly to the door, with beating heart in tow. He wondered... no... hoped that the guest was Mr. Chiba; he knew Mr. Chiba couldn't possibly come back till 12 but he sincerely wanted to see his savior. Harry didn't know what he would do when he actually saw Mr. Chiba but he just wanted to see him.

Harry threw open the doors, widening his bright green eyes only to leave them dimmer than before. The doors were opened to welcome two couples so different in appearance that they put the metaphor "as different as night and day" to shame.

One of the couples consisted of a dirty-blonde haired man with long, wavy hair tied back in a loose ponytail and a black-haired woman whose short, wavy tresses look astonishingly dark blue for some reason. Harry figured it was the sun playing tricks on his eyes—a person can't have blue hair looking so naturally like she was born with it.

The other couple consisted of a white (or is it silver?) haired man with hair past his shoulders, and a blonde woman with a red bow that tied part of her hair while leaving the rest of its sun-kissed tresses to the mercy of the earth. Harry figured the lovely hair must be glad it only reached till her knees.

If the couples didn't look confident at being at the right house, Harry would've seriously thought all of them came to the wrong house.

The women and the blond man smiled charmingly at him but the silver haired man remained impassive at him until the blonde woman nudged him in the ribs; he let out a quick, crooked grin at him only to remain proudly impassive the next moment.

The blonde woman smiled apologetically at Harry and stepped inside the house, "Oh hello there... Endymion. Don't mind that old man; he's just sore because he didn't get to drive our car." She motioned to the dark blue sports car, in front of neatly parked cerulean car, parked dangerously close to the woody trees on the side of the house.

She continued chatting, "isn't that a beautiful car? I should know; I selected the color." She grinned proudly and continued, "Oh dear, we didn't introduce ourselves, did we? No matter, I will introduce them and myself to you, Endymion. Hi, I'm Aino Minako," she shook hands with Harry and motioned to the silver haired man next to her, "and this is my one and half year old husband, Malachite. And don't mind the old, white hair, dear, he's only 26 years old but acts as if the whole world depends on his impassive face." The man gave her a pouting look; she stopped embarrassing the poor man. "Well, enough about him, dear, after all you'll get to know quite well soon. Oh yeah, the quiet-as-mouse people over there are Mizuno, Ami" to the shyly smiling black (or dark blue?) haired woman, "and her husband Zoisite." At last, her cornflower blue eyes swirled to the politely smiling, blonde man.

They stepped inside the house and walked towards the dining room. Meanwhile Mrs. Aino spoke merrily to him while seemingly bouncing beside him. "Oh Endymion, dear, don't bother welcoming us to the living room. You see we always come to this house to eat Makoto-chan and Nephrite-san's delicious cooking for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. All this seems strange to you, doesn't it, Endymion? No need to worry about it, dear, you'll get used to all this soon that you won't help but joining in. After all, when you're in Japan, do as Japanese say, or as Japanese-English say" Mrs. Aino beamed happily, alluding to her English face. Harry decided to not dwell on the mangled proverb and dwelled on her words. ‘Does that mean I'm in Japan? If I'm in Japan, how did I get here? Where is here?'

Harry sat to the left of Mrs. Aino; she was the only one chatting to him happily about how her husband first met her in a party and danced with her all night and made her fall in love with him. The others were either waiting for the breakfast or talking to each other quietly.

Just when Mrs. Aino was ending her anecdote, a group of people entered the dining room with hello-s and how-are-you-doing-s to everyone.

Usagi smiled kindly at him and sat beside him. She asked Harry how he felt this morning and introduced him to the new people.

Usagi first motioned to the graceful, sea green haired woman "this is Kaioh Michiru." She nodded at the wary, dirty-blonde man "this is Tenoh Haruka." She gestured to the impassive, black haired woman (or a dark-green haired woman?), "this is Meiou Setsuna, and finally my daughter, Chibi-Usa," Usagi glanced fondly at the pink-haired girl, who was smiling at him as if she knew him all her life. Harry supposed that was because her mother told her to be nice to him because of his supposed amnesia. But as he stared at her strawberry pink hair, his mind seemed to shut down because he didn't remember seeing any pink haired females, if he didn't count Tonks, the Metamorphmagus (3) who morphed her already strange colored hair to shocking pink at the end of the school year.

The new arrivals greeted him smilingly, except the dirty-blonde man who glared suspiciously at him.

A doorbell rang to save Harry from the frowning blonde man. Chibi-Usa volunteered to open the door and skipped out of the kitchen before any objections arose.

Usagi chatted with him about the morning and how she and Chibi-Usa will give him a tour of the house.

With the loud steps of the guests, Harry turned to the dining room door and immediately wished he hadn't—it was the woman, Rei and some other blond man. He would've observed the couple if Rei-san weren't giving him a piercing look as if telling what he was still doing in the house. Usagi and everyone welcomed the couple and asked about her baby.

"Vesta is in safe hands, minna-san [everyone], in fact I noticed the poor couple were getting kicked around by quite a few babies." Mrs. Hino smirked and lifted her eyebrow as she eyed Mrs. Aino, and Mrs. Mizuno.

The two women flushed red. Mrs. Mizuno answered, "well Rei-chan, we couldn't bring the babies to the dining room crying noisily, so we decided that leaving them with Luna and Artemis was better. Besides those two would like the experience since it would help them with their future daughter, Diana." Mrs. Hino nodded her head casually signaling she bought their excuse. Everyone else was about to slip back to his or her interrupted conversations except Harry Potter. ‘Luna! Luna Lovegood? Doesn't seem like it. After Luna and Artemis seem like an adult couple and the Luna I know is still a Hogwarts student. Must be a different person, then.'

Usagi smiled slyly and teased Mrs. Mizuno, "aww, Ami-chan finally got tired of the screaming Pallas. Oooh, that girl seems so sweet and soft like her mother except when she opens her mouth. Good thing, I am the only one who can calm her down."

Harry stared at Usagi; she seemed to have transformed into a completely different person. One minute ago, she was elegant, kind, and serene woman but now, she seemed to resemble a bubbly teenager with her petite form and bright, teasing cerulean eyes.

"Oh Usagi-chan, you can only calm her down because you give her blue lollipops. It is because of all the excess sugar, Pallas can't seem to be quiet. I would never give her any sweet foods at home because I heard her teeth would turn into a sickly yellow color forever and she would suffer many dentist visits when she grows older."

"Aww, come on Ami-chan, you know nothing like that will ever happen. Where has our book-loving, fact-happy Ami-chan gone to? You are hearing all those superstitions from your old neighbors and confusing them for facts. I told you never to listen to those old bats, Ami-chan." Makoto-san entered smiling with trays of tasty-looking foods in her hands. She set them on her table and told Mr. Kino to hurry up with his trays.

"Yeah, Ami-chan, and yellow is not a sick color. It's actually a love color just like orange." Mrs. Aino smiled dreamily at the dark wall behind Mrs. Mizuno.

"Bakayarou! [Idiot, stupid] Red is the color of love while yellow and orange are the happy colors. Oh what irony! The goddess of love herself doesn't know the true colors of love." That was a sarcastic Mrs. Hino, who was currently passing out plates to the people, helping Makoto-san set the table along with quite a few other people.

"Red! Isn't that the favorite color of a certain pyro, Rei-chan? I thought it was the color of hot-temper like a certain pyro in a red dress is now having." Usagi laughed while quickly jumping out a hand's way.

"Baka [idiot] Usagi! Here, help me with the bacon." Mrs. Hino hurriedly gave the plate to her and turned to the other side to help give the plates to everybody else and finally turned towards Usagi.

"Ahh! Odango! I told you to set that bacon over there, not eat it like a pig," Mrs. Hino screamed angrily at Usagi.

But Usagi was unfazed, "no, pyro, you told me to help you with the bacon and I did. Sheesh, the thanks I get for doing things for you!" Usagi jumped out of Mrs. Hino's way. A short blond haired man with intense blue-gray eyes was holding Mrs. Hino back and eventually calmed her down much to everyone's relief.

Mrs. Aino leaned over Harry and whispered loudly to Usagi so everyone could hear it. "I'm sure glad bluish-gray married red otherwise we would've been long dead by her mood swings. I sure wonder, though, if she's acting it out just to be touched by him in front of us."

Everyone in the room let out snickers much to Hino's embarrassment; Mrs. Hino made a sarcastic reply to Mrs. Aino while Usagi explained the code words to Harry after she noticed his lost expression.

"Don't worry about the code words, Endy. You see, red is pyro over there in red dress, Rei-chan, and blue and gray are the favorite colors of her husband, Jadeite… the blonde man beside her."

Chibi-Usa, who sat beside Usagi, nodded enthusiastically and added, "we all use these code words in cases like these. Blue is Amy-san," she pointed to the shyly smiling dark blue haired woman.

"Bluish-green is Zoisite-san," Usagi pointed to the chuckling long blonde-haired man beside Mrs. Mizuno.

"Green is Makoto-san," the chocolate-brown haired woman with emerald eyes smiled at Harry's direction upon hearing her name.

"Her husband, Nephrite-san, is reddish brown." Mr. Kino came out of the kitchen finally with trays on his hands and set them on the large white table with ease and proceeded to sit down beside Makoto-san to taunt Mr. Hino beside him along with Mr. Mizuno about Mrs. Aino's comment.

"Minako-san is orange while Malachite-san, beside her, is silvery-blue." The couple was talking to the Mizuno couple opposite of them; well Mrs. Aino seemed to be the one talking to all of them.

"Haruka-san is navy-yellow, Michiru-san is aquamarine and Setsuna-san is maroon-ish dark green." Haruka-san was starting to eat along with the two women, making small talks with the four men and Ms. Kaioh and Ms. Meiou.

Mrs. Aino finished talking with Mizuno's and looked at Harry, "and Usagi is silvery-pink while Chibi-Usa is pink. Well, Endymion dear, all the code words are our favorite colors, what about yours?"

Harry thought quickly; he never thought about his favorite color before. 'Hmm. Favorite color? What color do I like most? Red? Not my color. Green? Like my eyes,' a flashback entered his mind about the color green. He remembered when Ginny Weasley, his best friend Ron's sister, had a crush on him; she gave him a Valentine poem about his green eyes resembling freshly pickled toads or something equally embarrassing. 'So green is out of the question. Blue? Never thought about it. Yellow? Too happy! Orange? Same difference. White? Pure color but too plain for me. Black?' Another flashback snaked its way into Harry's mind. He remembered the beautiful black hair of the mysterious girl last night. He remembered how frustrated he became when her stunning black hair covered her face from him. But, he also remembered how her pale skin seemed ethereally luminous against her dark nightdress and glossy black hair.

"Black!" Harry whispered but knew all people in the dining room heard it from their surprised faces.

"Black! That's one of the favorite colors of Mamo-chan! The other one is red." Usagi exclaimed, looking positively elated, contrasting everybody else's dubious expressions, except for Makoto-san whose dubious expression lifted off as she shook her head and smiled at Harry in kind, reassured way.

Conversations ended at this point as everyone began immerse themselves in Makoto-san and Mr. Kino's delectable foods. After they are finished, everyone told goodbye-s and see-you-later-s to Usagi, Chibi-Usa and Harry and showed themselves out of the house.

Harry asked Usagi why everyone went away while he helped Usagi and Chibi-Usa clean up the table.

"Well, Endy, Rei-chan and Jadeite-san live in temple and have to leave because of the tourists and Jadeite's work in Mamo-chan's office. They say that they come here only to eat the Kino's cooking and to talk with the girls and their husbands. But the other reasons they come here are to curl themselves in front of the large fireplace in the next room and to have some rest from their energetic baby, Vesta. They usually give the baby to Mamo-chan and me, if we are free, or to Luna and Artemis. But Mamo-chan and I don't mind spending time with Vesta because she's so cute and lovable and very—"

Chibi-Usa cut her mother off with a note of jealousy in her tone, which the mother was blissfully obvious to, "Yeah, yeah. And Makoto-san and Nephrite-san have to leave because they have their own restaurant and open it at 8:00. They come here to talk with everyone and to cook because everyone knows that Usagi-mama can't even boil the water without setting something on fire or cutting herself accidentally. And they come here to leave their baby, Juno, with me and Mamo-chan or Luna and Artemis while they work in restaurant. Besides, they both love the kitchen and dining room because it's their dream kitchen but they couldn't afford it in their own house because they spent most of their money on making the restaurant and managing it."

Usagi nodded while washing her hands in the sink, "and Ami-chan and Zoisite-san have to leave because Zoisite-san is a doctor in the hospital Ami-chan and Hotaru-chan are volunteering."

"Hotaru-chan?" Harry asked Usagi.

"Oh yeah, you didn't meet Hotaru-chan, did you? No worries, you will meet her soon. She wants to be a nurse and is now volunteering in the hospital as an assistant to Zoisite-san. I wonder why she wasn't here this morning."

"Mama! Did you forget already? Hota-chan had to go away because they changed her shift to earlier time because of some problem. She told us she won't be here for lunch and dinner today and will eat in the hospital cafeteria."

Usagi smiled sheepishly, "oh yeah, I remember. Mamo-chan gave her a ride to the hospital this morning and then went to his office. Er… What were we talking about before?"

Harry told her, "about Mrs. Mizuno volunteering in a hospital…"

Usagi smiled gratefully at him and made her way to the living room with the rest in tow. "Yeah… Ami-chan wants to be a doctor. That's why she's now volunteering in the hospital as an assistant along with Hotaru-chan, so that she would know how it would be to work in a hospital in future. She and Zoisite-san come here because they are too busy to cook for themselves. I swear to Goddess Selene that they don't even know that they have a house and a blue kitchen to go to. I always tell them that they work too hard and should slow down for their own good but they tell me that Zoisite-san actually loves working in the hospital and Ami-chan needs to work now because she missed a lot of medical school two years ago because of her pregnancy. But I say that Ami-chan likes school a lot that she only wants to become a doctor just because of all the long schooling requirements." Usagi nodded in firm assertion while sitting down on the dark blue sofa with Chibi-Usa and Harry.

Harry asked, "Why do the Mizuno's come here, Usagi? I understand that they want to talk with the others and all but they could've easily had the cafeteria foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner and visit the others for talking. Even calling the others on phone would suffice them because they seem to be the kind of people who compromise a lot."

Usagi smiled at him, "yeah, they are the kind, Endy. But they come here to leave Pallas with me or Luna and Artemis when they are away at the hospital and to read up all the books in the library over there," she pointed to the sophisticated blue door at the left side of the room. "The couple love to read books and the large library in our house is kind of like a relief-heaven to them from all the work and sometimes even the screaming Pallas. They usually don't have time in the morning to read so after dinner, they stay in the library for about an hour and then take a sleeping Pallas with them. I don't mind them in the library or having to take care of Pallas though because those two finally get to relax while I get to play with the sweet little Pallas until night. But mind you, Endy, Pallas can be a screaming little hell but after she has a lollipop, she's the most well-behaved, sweetest, politest, little chil—"

Chibi-Usa puffed angrily at her mother and continued, "and Malachite-san went away because Malachite-san is a partner of Daddy and has to be at the office at 8:00. Minako-san went away because she's a model and also works at 8:00. They both come here to eat the Kino's foods because Minako-san is the worst cook in the world, if you don't count Mama, and Malachite-san can only cook so much. The duo also come here to leave Ceres-chan with Mama and Daddy or Luna and Artemis-san because they can't look after her while they are at work."

Usagi shook her head to agree with Chibi-Usa. "Haruka-san, Michiru-san, Setsuna-san and Hotaru-chan live in the house with us because all of them don't have a house to stay in. You see Endy, Haruka-san and Michiru-san used to be in world tour giving piano and violin concerts while Hotaru-chan played flute and hopped into different schools during the tour. Before the world tour, they used to rent an apartment but when the world tour time came, they decided it was best to clear out of the apartment instead of paying rent unnecessarily for all the time they would spend away from the apartment. After the world tour was finished, they came back here to buy a house but so far, they couldn't find one that suited their needs. So I told Mamo-chan about their problem and proposed a plan of renting them some rooms in our house because they loved some of the rooms so much when they visited me. Mamo-chan didn't mind because he didn't want the extra guestrooms to be empty. Even before the four came, he was thinking of inviting the Mizuno's, Kino's, and Aino's to live with us since he likes babies so much, can talk to his friends whenever he wants to, and the extra guestrooms will be put to good use. Before he could ask them though, the Haruka-san, Michiru-san, Setsuna-san and Hotaru-chan came in need of a house and Mamo-chan asked them instead and we were still glad about them living with us because they are also our friends and Hotaru-chan is like our second daughter. Chibi-Usa didn't mind too because Hotaru-chan is her best friend and Setsuna-san is like second mother and best friend to her."

Chibi-Usa smiled and asked Harry. "Well, since we're free now. Why don't we start on the tour, everyone?"

Harry nodded at her, grateful to finally look into the house instead of just observing the different doors. He was glad that Usagi and Chibi-Usa were very talkative too otherwise he wouldn't have found out a quarter of the information they told him in such a short period of time. He couldn't wait to see the beautiful house and see what other information he would discover.

[1] He [Mamoru] was placed in an orphanage until he turned 18. — I made it up everyone. I have no idea till when he was really placed in the orphanage so I just made that part up.

[2] He [Mamoru] made a living on his own for a while and finally inherited company and this estate from his parents. – Also made it up everyone. Don't worry, there's a mystery behind the company and the estate part and it will be revealed in time too. I know it's different from the original story line of SM but as I said before, there's a mystery behind it.

[3] Metamorphmagus = a person who can change his/her appearance at will. Tonks is an original character in Harry Potter and Order of Phoenix and also a Metamorphmagus. Just jogging your memories about her. ^_^
