Chapter 6

He was slithering along the dark floor, feeling the coldness and hardness of the stony floor. Finally he came to a rest and raised his head to watch as the scene unfolded.

"I'm s-s-orry, master. I couldn't find the boy because the members of the Order interfered. If they didn't interfere—"

"What would you do, Mulciber (1) ? Kill Harry? Or at least stun him enough to give him to me? Did I give you an order to do that? ANSWER!" The Dark Lord sent a flash of green light to watch the man twitch horribly in pain.

Voldemort turned coldly to one of the other men, "who sent you to kill the boy, Jugson (2) ? Was it me?"

Before the green flash could kill him or worse, the hooded man answered hesitantly, "no, my Lord. The Ice-man ordered us… c-claiming you ordered him to say—" In a scream, he went down as a flash of golden light pierced painfully out of his chest.

Harry turned sharply to the source of the light and… found a man coming from the shadows? No, it's a dark portal of some sort.

His upper body was hidden from sight but his general appearance suggested some sort of dark uniform and a definite chilly air around him.

He had his hand out in front of him and he slowly lowered it. "I sent them to kill the boy. We can't have a mere boy taking our time and effort when we could have spent it on—"

"You," Voldemort spun sharply at him, "will have your bargain met as long as you don't interfere with my affairs. And as for you," he turned to the group of huddling hooded figures and raised his wand to them, "Avada Kedrava! That should serve as a reminder to the rest of you, who to serve."

The hovering man turned calmly around, his back facing Voldemort and the dead bodies, "you know in the end, all would serve her, my queen… even the strange presence in that snake of yours!"

Voldemort smiled coldly, "yes, but we should find the vessel first. And as for you," he turned still smiling coldly at him while his eyes pierced a searching look inside his skull, "I will make sure to find you and kill the ones who helped you, Harry, Avada Kedrava!"

Sharp gasps were heard as a 15-year-old boy sat straight in his dark bed and tried to blink his emerald eyes in the darkness. He stopped breathing and gasped a little softly this time to control his breathing. He tried to swallow but found his mouth too dry. He made his way out of the bed and froze suddenly at the thought of his dream.

"…Kill the ones who helped you…," rang the voice in his head as he tried to shake off the aftereffects of the dream.

Harry thought of the Weasleys, Hermione, Ron, and… Usagi! 'She's innocent. The Weasleys, Hermione, and Ron at least have wizarding powers to protect themselves but Usagi… what does she have? Nothing, she's a muggle. And I repay her kind treatment by leading Voldemort to her!'

Harry shook his head fervently, 'no! I can't allow that, I can't allow Voldemort to find Usagi, Chibi-Usa, these people, this house.'

Harry narrowed his emerald eyes, he knew what to do. He strode back to the closet and put on a shirt and his glasses quickly. He stashed his wand in his pockets and strode out of the room.

He was careful to watch his destination, the large door. If he saw anything else in this house, he knew his resolve might dissolve.

"Meow!" a voice said suddenly when Harry spun to the source sharply. It was a lavender cat… kitten to be precise and it gnawed at the door it was sitting in front of.

The door suddenly opened to let in bright light that blinded Harry for a minute. He tried to make out the silhouette but saw it as an unfamiliar one. The figure quickly grabbed him and pulled him inside the room and shut the door behind him.

Harry turned around to see the figure and found a strange man with tousled black hair and wary blue eyes.

A loud thump was heard as Harry turned to the source, and unexpectedly he saw…

"Hey, Endymion! Good to see you came already. We were going to send someone to welcome you. Could you be a dear and come here to push me the cake from over there so that we can put the carpet down?" Mrs. Aino sent a sunny smile before getting ready to lift the… thing up. The thing is more like a little manual lift made from colorfully-dyed wood and a woody well, mixed together. It was large enough to hold four adults on it but light enough to have an average person like Mrs. Aino lift herself, Makoto-san, and a strange middle-aged, bluish-purple haired woman up.

"Hurry up, Endymion! We only have one hour." Makoto-san cried for him, breaking him out of his deep observation.

Harry turned around to search for the cake and found it very easy to spot, what with its humongous size. It seemed more like a wedding cake just by the size of the thing. Before he could decide how he was going to push that thing, Mr. Aino and Mr. Kino lent a hand by pushing the cake from its stand. Harry helped them out and soon they reached the manual lift. As soon as they reached Minako, Mr. Aino and Mr. Kino went off to help out with other things people were doing.

Harry stared around the room and noticed it was the library and found it well suited to hold so many people inside. Every family he met in the house was here and then some strange people but everybody was doing some kind of work busily except the strange man who grabbed him first—he was busy directing what she should do, what he should do, when they should complete. Nobody was having any problems with his orders as he even helped out with a few things before becoming absorbed in telling what another idle or confused person should do around the room.

Harry turned around to Mrs. Aino and found her and the other two women trying successfully to lift the cake inside the lift. He asked Makoto-san what's happening but Mrs. Aino was only too happy to give an answer, "we are having a surprise birthday party for the mother and daughter rabbits, dear. Phew! It would be no surprise if they ate this whole thing and wanted a few slices more!" She blew her somewhat sweaty bangs out of the way as Makoto-san said, "you don't think this is enough either, Minako-chan? I have a few dishes and appetizers in the kitchen. I will just bring them in. Endymion, would you be a dear and help me with some?"

She bustled out of his way and quickly summarized what she and Harry were doing to the strange man, who agreed and thanked her promptly for her foresight. Makoto-san and Harry quickly went out of the library and into the kitchen. While Makoto-san was getting dishes out of almost every place secretive imaginable, Harry asked her, "Makoto-san who are the strangers in the house today?"

She glanced at him quickly and whispered while still getting out the dishes, "well all of them are Usagi-chan's and Chibi-Usa's relatives and friends. You saw the reddish-brown haired woman who was pregnant and was helping with making sure the babies were asleep right, dear? She's Usagi-chan's friend, Naru-san. Her husband, the man with wild brown hair and round eyeglasses, who was helping with the decorations, is Umino-san. You saw the bluish-purple middle-aged woman, right, Endymion? She's Usagi-chan's mother, Ikuko-san, and the brown-haired middle-aged man who was helping out with putting up the decorations on the glass ceiling is Usagi-chan's father, Kenji-san. Even her brother is here in the party—he's the brown haired 15 year old boy, Shingo-chan. But the bluish-white haired boy with brown eyes, Elios-san, is only a friend of Chibi-Usa," here she leaned to him conspiratorially, "actually he's her boyfriend but don't tell this to her father and grandparents! They would have his head before he can say 'Chibi-Usa help!'." They both chuckled.

But Harry asked, "but how did you set up the party, Makoto-san? I never even heard a whisper of it before I came down unexpectedly."

Makoto-san flushed guiltily, "Well, we were careful to not spoil it for Usagi-chan and Chibi-Usa so much that we couldn't tell you, Endymion. Well I tried to tell this morning for you but before I could tell, the Ainos and Mizunos came and interrupted me. And before I could let Nephrite get the door, you volunteered and skipped out of the way to open the door so I never got the chance to tell you about it. As for the rest of today, you know nobody came to the house to warn you because we were actually busy with hiding Usagi-chan's family and Umino-sana and Naru-san from her. As far as she knows, they went on vacation a week ago to a nearby island or another city. Usually, Usagi-chan would visit some of our homes everyday to play with the babies but we were extremely lucky that you were here to distract her otherwise Mamoru-san would've had a migraine directing where this group goes when Usagi comes there, and where that couples goes when Usagi goes there."

She giggled softly oblivious to the startled expression of Harry. 'Mr. Chiba is here? Then I can finally meet him.' He made no waste of time asking her where Mr. Chiba was but she answered while blinking confusedly, "but Endymion, you already met him. He's the one who grabbed you and brought you into the library!"

If Harry had any dishes in his hands, they would've surely crashed on the floor and woke the two rabbits up, causing major scolding of everyone in the house at his mistake. But he didn't have any dishes yet, so he was pretty safe from the anger of everyone.

That still didn't lessen the nervous butterflies in his stomach even though they were buzzing around in excitement. Harry didn't know what he would say to Mr. Chiba; he knew he had to thank him but suddenly the words to say the thanks left him quite lost.

Fortunately for him, Mr. Chiba was too busy arranging everything for the party to notice him properly. Harry stuck with whatever Makoto-san did to help set the party.

When it was time for the two birthday girls to come and celebrate, Mr. Chiba told everyone to get into whatever lifts they could find to go highest and to set the cake right in the middle of the library. He made sure to stop the fire from the fireplace and lit the candles for the cake, opened the library doors and climbed himself on one of the lifts but fortunately for Harry, Mr. Chiba climbed on the lift next to his, postponing more the time of thanks.

When everything was ready before two minutes and fifty-three seconds to midnight (courtesy of Ms. Meiou), the lights went off to behold some thirty small spheres of light and everything was silent.

After seemingly long moments, two small huddled forms and a seemingly tiny form like a kitten's came into the room curious at the hovering balls of light in seeming sea of darkness. They moved closer to the lights. Harry turned to the dark form of Mr. Chiba; he had a white handkerchief to signal the falling of lifts and subsequent shouts of "Happy Birthday-s".

For what seemed to be a long second, the kerchief moved and all the lifts fell soundlessly to a sudden thump just as the first chime of midnight rang. Shouts of "happy birthday"-s mixed with loud screams of two rabbits and shrieking voices of babies when lights suddenly came to life.

"Surprise Usagi and Chibi-usa!" screamed the voices of everyone as the mother and daughter rubbed their hearts gently to recover from their shock.

They pouted and wailed at such a horrible treatment in the middle of the night but the sight of the humongous cake was enough to quiet them to drooling. Everyone laughed good-naturedly at the two.

When the twelfth chime of midnight rang however, the two already made a wish and blew their candles and were swallowing their first slice of the cake, but not before giving each and everyone in the room a slice of the cake for their good efforts, mind you. To the surprise and happiness of Harry, they even gave him a slice of the cake before eating themselves, and considering the duo's ravenous appetites and his strange appearance into the large family, it was the utmost love Usagi and Chibi-Usa could show to Harry.

Harry stared around the library he shared with two boys of his age—one was a normal brown-haired boy with green eyes while the other was a curiously bluish-white-haired boy with reddish-brown eyes. He wondered through the daze of awakening from sleep, how he had gotten into the library.

Harry now remembered. After the party, everyone was tired especially the adults who didn't get any sleep the whole day and night so Usagi firmly ordered everyone to sleep in the house since there was plenty of space in the house. Most of the women grouped together in rooms while men grouped themselves in remaining rooms but the girls—Harry's breath was caught at the remembrance of the mysterious girl.

"Hotaru," He tested the word on his tongue and found it beautiful to say. A blush found its way to his face as he thought, 'just as beautiful as its mistress.'

He remembered her creamy skin that was just as pale as that night in the kitchen as it was yesterday in his dark room. But what really excited him were her eyes—her shy yet excited eyes the color of violet. He sighed as he turned over to his side. His dreamy mind slowly noted the dark room he was in—the library. Suddenly he remembered why he was not in his room.

The girls, Chibi-Usa and Hotaru, had to have a room for themselves since Chibi-Usa was a birthday girl and insisted cutely to Harry and Elios, who couldn't resist her tearful ruby eyes and thus gave up Harry's bedroom. The boys: Harry, Shingo, Usagi's brother, and Elios, Chibi-Usa's secret boyfriend, finally got the lower part of the library for themselves while some of the men unfortunately got the upper, glass part of the library as their room.

Well, all went really well for the night—Harry celebrated Usagi's and Chibi-Usa's birthdays, saw Mr. Chiba, met the mysterious girl and actually beheld the sight of her beautiful face, and met two boys of his own age who had taken him well, considering his strange appearance into the family. If Harry didn't count his escape plan being ruined, then he would have been extremely happy with the night.

Harry peeked cautiously at the other two boys, they were sound asleep. A half-formed escape plan pressed in his mind till he finally got off the small sofa. He had his wand still with him and that's all he had and needed to escape.

Harry quietly moved out of the room and into the hall and tried to see if anyone was sleeping in the sofas. Surprisingly no one was there in the living room and Harry felt lucky at the sight.

He quietly but firmly walked to the large door but couldn't help but take one last look at the house. He watched every door and every elegant piece examinable in the house, but made sure to bury the inviting faces of everyone he met the night before. Before he could even think of staying in the house, Harry closed his solemn emerald eyes and touched the door handle.

"Going somewhere Endymion?" rang a voice behind him as Harry suddenly spun around in surprise.

Mr. Chiba stood before him with emotionless stormy-blue eyes.

Cosmicqueen: Phew, finished with the chapter. Sorry folks, I wanted to write more but this seemed like a good place to stop. But finally our Harry Potter meets Mamoru, the real Endymion.

What do you think will hold in store in Harry in next chapter, guys?

PS: lifts are elevators in England for those of you who are American.
