Chapter 7

Harry tried not to stare at Mr. Chiba. After all the trouble of running away he went through, Harry knew he would surely find some disappointment for not being kind enough or betrayal for not getting even a thanks for his kindness.

Nervous butterflies seemed to be caged in, in Harry's stomach. They were stubbornly trying to fly out of his stomach by colliding with his insides.

Noticing a movement at the corner of his eyes, Harry tried to focus on what Mr. Chiba was doing. Surprisingly, Mr. Chiba was offering him tea with calmness, still with those expressionless eyes. Their fingers brushed with each other accidentally, but Harry pulled back quickly as if his touch burned him more than his emotionless gazes. He tried not to rub his prickling forehead in fear of having the undivided attention of Mr. Chiba but, as he stared at the polished glass table, he wished he did not--Mr. Chiba was giving him every ounce and pint of attention he has with his guarded royal-blue eyes.

Harry, to have a reason of staring at something other than Mr. Chiba's reflection, gazed at the cup of tea and slowly sipped it, even though his stomach wasn't accepting it what with its flighty butterflies.

Harry went back to staring intently at the room that looked like it was more of a living room of some rich wizard than of a rich muggle. There were even magical portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Mamoru Chiba, and most of the people he met so far. They were watching him discretely and whispering things into ears of other curious listeners. The only ones staring right at him were Ms. Tenou, Mrs. Hino, Ms. Meiou and Mr. Chiba himself.

"Post to Chiba Darien Mamoru. Post to Chiba Darien Mamoru…" went a clearly black-haired witch smiling coyly at Mr. Chiba. Harry stared at her. The message didn't surprise him so much as where the message is coming from. The post-witch was using the ornate fireplace beside him and Mr. Chiba as a muggle postman would use the door for post.

Mr. Chiba smiled charmingly at the woman, and took the bundle of letters from her hands quickly, making sure the witch's fingers were not brushing with his even though she practically tried to grab at them.

"Thank you for withholding yesterday's letters on my request, Yamamoto-san (1)," Mr. Chiba sent another charming smile at her face, for which she swooned dreamily.

"It's all my pleasure Chiba-sama. If there's anything else you want, then please be sure to use my services." She smiled with what she thought was seduction, but Harry privately thought she looked even uglier than she was with just her excessive mismatched muggle make-up and the showy bright kimono.

She popped out of the fireplace as soon as Mr. Chiba dismissed her with a polite "of course, thank you". The magical green fire went out of the fireplace leaving an amounting silence in the room, which Harry was too nervous yet curious to leave alone.

"Er… Mr. Chiba, so you are a wizard, eh?" Resisting the urge to smack himself for sounding so obvious and silly, Harry concentrated on Mr. Chiba.

Mr. Chiba smiled knowingly at him, "yes, Endymion, I am a wizard. Is there anything you would like to tell me? Starting with your lightning-shaped scar perhaps?"

Harry's finger immediately touched his scar; he flushed at forgetting to put the illusion spell on his forehead, even though he was sure that his spell should not have worn off so early.

Glancing at the expectant face of Mr. Chiba, Harry decided on simple honesty at last. "Er… well, my name is Harry Potter and I lied about being Endymion because I was attacked by the Death Eaters of Voldemort…" here Harry glanced at Mr. Chiba a bit to see how he would react, surprisingly Mr. Chiba didn't even wince at the name, "…on the night that you found me, so I wanted to be careful of who I was with. But as for how I came to be here, I honestly don't know, sir."

Mr. Chiba nodded understandingly at his answer, "yes, I have heard of a 15-year-old wizard named Harry Potter, who once defeated the Dark Lord Voldemort when he was a baby. But it seems I am out of the times with news of England, would you care to enlighten me, Mr. Potter?"

Harry nodded eagerly, ‘at least it was better than going straight into the pit of saying good thanks,' he thought. "Well, as you probably have heard, sir, Voldemort rose again after 14 years of not having a body to properly live in and possessing all kinds of beings to sustain his life in the meanwhile. In June, he brewed a potion to bring back his body and has been killing people like Broderick Bode, an officer in Department of Mysteries, discreetly. The previous Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, was too chicken to acknowledge that Voldemort is alive again even though Professor Dumbledore and I told him of many proofs such as the Quidditch World Cup disaster, where some Death Eaters terrorized muggle-parented wizards and witches and Cedric Diggory's death, where the student of Hogwarts was killed by one of the Death Eaters at the end of the Triwizard Tournament in June. But in the middle of June, Voldemort sent some Death Eaters to… attack the Ministry of Magic so now Fudge has been giving out pamphlets and all to families about safety from Death Eaters, as if it would really help them if Death Eater wanted them murdered for their sick pleasures!" Harry was grinding his teeth and glaring furiously at the floor at this point, too overcome by angry emotions from… his death.

Mr. Chiba rose and clasped Harry's shoulder. Calmed by the warm hand, Harry closed his emerald eyes and took a deep breath in—he faintly wondered what the wonderful smell he was sensing. He looked down in his hands to note the tea Mr. Chiba offered before. He took a sip to note that it was the tea with some strange taste that tasted enticingly breathtaking.

"It is chamomile herbal tea—brilliant for calming senses." Mr. Chiba simply went back to his seat and put his foot over his other knee and settled back in with grace.

Harry glanced at Mr. Chiba to see if he wanted him to continue, a slight nod came as an answer. "Well, fortunately for the wizarding world in England, Fudge was voted out of his office by people and a new wizard, named Rufus Scrimgeor, is named the Minister of Magic. Word's that he is a man of action and having fought Voldemort and his lackeys for most of his life, he doesn't underestimate Voldemort. At least, it's a good thing that he's not an irresponsible failure like Fudge was with this thing."

Harry lifted his eyes from the floor to the man in front of him, who was listening intently at his words. A few moments more passed by as both thought of the distressing situation.

"So, you know Professor Dumbledore?" Mr. Chiba asked him slowly, staring into the emerald eyes of the boy in front of him.

"Yes Sir, I'm a student at Hogwarts and Professor Dumbledore is the headmaster of the school."

But Mr. Chiba nodded smilingly, "of course, the Professor is more than capable of being a well-respected headmaster of Hogwarts. I heard that he was offered the Minister of magic position a few years before but he turned down for the sake of Hogwarts. Without him, Hogwarts would never have been the best European school for magical education it is."

Harry started at his reverent tone. "So, you were a student at Hogwarts? But I heard from Usagi that you were doing a big muggle business."

Mr. Chiba chuckled with an almost nonexistent hint of nervousness, "well, I was a student at Hogwarts, after all it was the most reputed European school even then, and my mother had studied a year at the school as foreign exchange student in her time. As for the business, well, it is a muggle business… partly. Well, what Usagi does not know cannot hurt her… much."

Harry narrowed his eyes, "Usagi doesn't know about you being a wizard, does she? Does anyone in this house know about it?"

Mr. Chiba was about to reply when the grandfather clock in a corner sprang to life and sang in a pleasant female voice, "Chiba-ouji (2), the time is 7 ‘o' clock! Time to meet Hiroshi-koushaku. (3) Time to meet Hi—"

"Yes, thank you for the reminder," Mr. Chiba rose from his chair when Harry rose from his out of respect. "Please Mr. Potter; I am going on a trip to the wizarding world in Japan on some business. Now, please give this ring to Jadeite-kun," Mr. Chiba slid a round, elegant, ruby ring from his finger and put it into the palm of Harry. "It is to signify that he can safely speak with you on this matter if you have any questions or an urgent business. Also, please inform him that it will be a two-day trip instead of a half-day trip. Now, I trust you will use it wisely," Mr. Chiba smirked, alluding to the excited face of Harry at the prospect of finding the truth very soon.

Harry flushed embarrassedly at the allusion but as Mr. Chiba was turning, it struck Harry that he still didn't say a proper thank you to Mr. Chiba.

"Mr. Chiba... er... Sir," Harry stared widely at the dark haired man, who quizzically turned back to him, "well... I just wanted to... er... how did you know that I was running away from the house this morning?" Harry held his breath and clenched his hands behind his back—while it was not what he intended to say, it was still something that nagged his mind.

"Well... Mr. Potter, a reporter from the Japanese Wizarding World once tried to come into my house to spy on my personal life when I was just married to Usagi, a muggle. The wizarding people of Japan were surprised to say the least that the son of the one of the most influential witches in Japan would marry a muggle. The reporter wanted to have a personal interview with my wife even though he knew that I forbid it publicly for personal reasons. When the time came for the reporter to catch my wife alone and off guard, luckily I was near enough to notice the hidden reporter and sent my wife in opposite direction to reprieve him alone severely. While I do believe there will not be such a problem anytime in future, I put magical alarm systems so that the owner of the house, that is I, would know who would enter and leave the house."

Mr. Chiba beckoned his shoes that were left at the small door of the little house and continued. "When I was alerted that someone was near the door, I felt for the aura of the person so that I would know who is going out at such an early hour. When I saw a strange emerald aura tinged with mild silver in my mind-eye, I knew it had to be yours. As you can imagine by now, I apparated behind you and led you till here."

Harry nodded, processing information about the aura Mr. Chiba was talking about. He never before heard about any spell or charm that could help a person read auras but from what he heard from the Old Bag, it was a highly complex form of divination that only men seemingly inherited from their mothers. However, with the art of divination almost being made bogus in both the current muggle word and mostly wizarding world by wizards and witches such as Trelawney, it was quite rare to find such a skillful man.

Harry turned toward Mr. Chiba only to see an empty sofa. He sighed at the sudden disappearance of Mr. Chiba—he didn't get to ask him more about aura-reading much less saying a decent ‘thank you' for the ring, and the belated ‘thank you' for saving his life.

He glanced around the room once more to note that everything was silent yet magically active once more. Many of the figures in the portraits were waving at him enthusiastically, no longer wary of his purpose and Harry waved back at them with a huge grin, feeling a bit silly yet content.

He leisurely walked out of the room to notice any other curious Japanese magical things. Being a sixth year student of Hogwarts and a brother's friend of Fred and George Weasley, Harry knew not to touch anything in case he gets stuck to it for the rest of the day or worse. Noticing nothing out of ordinary other than few more fireplaces in other rooms and moving pictures, he set out of the house to travel to the Main house. Where he was at, was actually a small hidden house of the "wizard-Mr. Chiba", not the "muggle-Mr. Chiba".

Harry made his way out of the deceptively small-looking house, onto the path that went outside the woods. He finally made it without being lost into the round maze made of tall bushes that reminded him resolutely of his third tournament last year, where he had to go into a maze of 50 foot bushes. Thankfully, this maze was made of about 15-feet and allowed any poor lost person to climb up the bush to get a near-bird's eye view of the maze.

To make sure none was there to witness his bizarre appearance of coming neatly out of a bush-wall, Harry climbed onto the bush and used the top-ledge of the hard bush as he would use a boardwalk. When he neared the middle of the maze, he quickly ducked down as he heard some curious giggles.

He quickly but silently climbed down the bush and hid behind one of the large strategically placed trees that shielded people from looking into middle part of the maze that contained a large, beautiful fountain and currently two kissing teenagers.

Harry felt his cheeks flush in anger and disgust as he watched a 15-year-old Elios kiss a 9-year-old Chibi-Usa. ‘How can Elios just kiss Chibi-Usa like that—she's only 9 for God's sake! He probably stole her first kiss too, that jerk! Not to mention there's a 6-year difference between their ages. When we were talking in the night, I teased him a bit about liking a 9-year old girl named Chibi-Usa but I never imagined he would go as far to kiss her like some… pedophile! After all, if he was 18, then she would only be a 13-year-old little girl, wouldn't she? Makoto-san was right, if her father or her grandparents saw this scene, they would surely have his head for doing that to a little girl!'

Harry carefully walked around the curve of trees to go into the other side of the maze, not wanting to be seen by the two "lovebirds", or more accurately "a player and his victim". He wanted to leave that horrible scene and get to the kitchen for some food but more than that, he wanted to give a good kick to the head of that boy, Elios. A sudden thought came before Harry slowly smirked.

He grabbed his wand from his back pocket and aimed earnestly at Elios. He whispered something silently and let out a spark of green light to hit at Elios' shoulder. He immediately began to walk out of the maze only to notice a streak of black at the corner of his eyes?

Harry turned to the side to notice that beautiful black-haired girl, Hotaru, staring at him. She was walking toward him but with each step she took toward him, Harry felt his heart beat louder and louder till he could bet 1000 galleons that everyone in the vicinity could hear his loud heart.

She stood directly in front of him now, and smiled. ‘She smiles like a goddess,' his head whispered to his heart faintly. His heart jumped a mile at the thought that it was all for him.

Suddenly she looked surprised and stared past him. Harry, now annoyed at what stopped her smile, turned back too only to notice his handiwork—a fainted Elios beside a panicking Chibi-Usa.

Hotaru went to help Elios, crying to Chibi-Usa, "Chibi-Usa-chan! What happened? Why is he lying on the ground like that? Oh look, Chibi-Usa-chan, he has a nasty bump on the back of his head! This could be serious. We should get him to the house. I'm sure Zoicite-sama and Ami-san are still there. They should be able to fix him in seconds."

Chibi-Usa stopped her waterworks immediately at the good advice yet still her panicky actions settled on finally telling her tale. "Oh Hotaru-chan, I'm so thankful that you are here. I don't know what happened to him. One minute, he was kissing me sweetly and the next he fell down on his back like a log. And I can't even make him wake up. Oh Hotaru-chan, what am I going to do? What if he fainted because I kissed so badly! Like Minako-san said, I practiced kissed in front of my mirror and thought I was at least decent but the first time I get to kiss a guy, he faints like a log! I'm doomed for boy-friend-less life! WAHHHHHH!" Her waterworks started again.

Harry, not being able to bear the sight of Chibi-Usa crying and the sight of Hotaru going towards that lecherous boy, stepped in. "We could just sprinkle some water on him so that he might wake up. Moving him now might make his neck snap." Chibi-Usa and Hotaru, who were about to lift him, had looks of horror but privately, Harry smirked slightly as he thought he would rather enjoy that scene.

However, the two girls left the side of the boy to go to the fountain but before they can bring water in their cupped hands, the water slipped between their fingers till all they had were empty wet cupped hands in front of Elios' face.

Seeing the panicking faces of the two girls, Harry took pity on them and walked toward the fountain. He searched for any large leafs to carry some water in but found a small one that won't even fit a pint of water in it. Harry glanced at the two girls who were fanning the fainted boy in earnest belief of the air being magical and waking him.

Safely putting his body in view of the girls, he aimed his wand at the leaf and performed an enlargement spell to note that the leaf become twice the size of his palm, just enough to bring some water in safely. With the leaf and water secure in his cupped hands, he brought the water to the fainted boy and none-too-gently, splashed the water on his face as if he splashed the dirty floor to clean it.

Fortunately for Harry, the two girls were too panicked by Elios's state to notice his suspicious actions. But to Harry's unfortunate luck and surprise, the water was enough to revive Elios after his spell. Harry was sure that he would have been knocked out for half-an-hour after the spell but brushed off the surprise when he noticed that Elios was trying to get up but was grabbing his head, groaning, much to Harry's satisfaction.

"Oh by slip of Gaea, why does my head hurt me so?"

Chibi-Usa was even more panicked by this statement, "oh Elios! I'm so sorry! I never should've kissed you like that and made you faint. It's my entire fault that it happened. I'm so sorry Elios, please forg—"

She was cut off by a gentle kiss from Elios who stopped just enough to whisper, "if by kissing you, I should faint, my dear maiden, then I would be the happiest being in the world to suffer a 1000 blows to my head than miss the taste of your sweet lips."

They kissed once more much to irritation and disgust of Harry. He was itching to get his hands on his wand again when a delicate sigh escape his beautiful fellow watcher. Looking at her blushing, yet wistfully smiling countenance, he wanted nothing more than to kiss her to show her his affections for her. He knew he could kiss with just as much, if not more passion, than the fake-boy she was smiling at.

Thinking about the fake-boy made him watch the white-haired but black-soul-ed boy. He was happy to note that Elios finally stopped pressing his sickly-pale lips on Chibi-Usa's innocent pink ones.

The two stood up and Elios turned towards Harry. "Thank you my friend. Were it not for the pure, sacred energy of the water, I would not have revived sooner. Thank you again." Harry didn't understand why he was spouting poetry of the water but left his curiosity to irritation as soon as Chibi-Usa smiled sweetly at the boy.

They walked away from him; hand in hand and smiling with sickly-love on their faces. Harry sighed at noting that Elios didn't dare to do anything more with Chibi-Usa at this point and turned to leave too.

A soft shuffling sound was heard from behind him that froze Harry in his tracks. He noticed that he and the blushing girl were alone in the maze and suddenly noticed that sun hid behind a cloud to mean for his dark-haired angel to walk in her glorious darkness. He turned around to see that she met his lively green eyes and smiled again, this time with a bit more brilliance and all of it was for Harry only.

"Thank you, Endymion-sama. It was very helpful of you to revive him so easily." She said still with her soft shy smile.

Harry flushed, "oh no, Endymion is enough, please. And I merely used water to awake him, nothing more… Hotaru-san."

"Hotaru please." She smiled with even more brilliance and walked beside him.

Harry smiled back at her and they walked to the house in simple silence, noticing small gestures of the way each other were. How softly they walked, how dark and mysterious their eyes were, how small but dazzling their smiles were, how the shade from the trees made their skins cool yet keeping their hearts warm with unknown feelings. Harry, for once, was content with a beautiful girl and with simple yet romantic silence.

Cosmicrose: Wow! This chapter has been finished for a long time now but has been in revision till now. Finally finished folks! How do you like it? How do you hate it? Review all, now!

Oh yes, before I forget, I'm in college now but finally have a summer break so watch out for more updates, dear readers.

(1) Yamamoto means origin/base of the mountain. Also, as you can see, in Japanese wizarding culture, they use post-witches or post-wizards instead of owls. More about why will be explained later in the story but this is one reason why owls aren't coming to Harry.

(2) and (3) If you guys want a tiny spoiler then here's a hint: go check the Japanese words up.
